July 24 (Renewables Now) - Argentine power producer YPF Luz signed on Tuesday an agreement to supply renewable power to cement factories belonging to Holcim Argentina SA (BCBA:HARG).

The power company will supply the electricity from the Los Teros wind farm currently under construction in the province of Buenos Aires. Of the future farm’s 172 MW of installed capacity, Holcim will use 30 MW for its operations.

Holcim has contracted an annual average of 142 GWh under the power purchase agreement (PPA). Supply is planned to start at the beginning of 2020, and by the end of the first half of the year wind will have reached 35% of Holcim's total power demand. The building materials company estimates it will be able to produce 1.2 million tonnes of cement annually powered by wind.
