Chinese photovoltaics (PV) maker Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:YGE) said Thursday it will use the recycling system of Aussie firm Reclaim PV Recycling Pty Ltd to reduce its solar waste and reuse it.
Yingli Green Energy Australia Pty Ltd will use the technology to extract efficient components from its end-of-life solar panels. Afterwards, the parts will be either reused in new PV modules or applied in the development of other types of green energy products, according to the press release.
Apart from significantly reducing Yingli Green’s solar waste, the reclamation method also lowers the energy levels needed for an effective solar cell recycling process. “We’re dedicated to employing the most sustainable methods of manufacturing to our own green energy products and this is reflected in our setting of regular greenhouse gas emission and waste reduction targets,” Yingli Green Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific managing director, Daman Cole, said.
At the very beginning of this year, parent Yingli Green announced that it has already surpassed by far the 2015 greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals for its production plants.
