Jul 11, 2013 - Chinese photovoltaics (PV) maker Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:YGE) said today that most of its multi- and monocrystalline PV modules are now covered by the JET PVm certification for the Japanese market.
The company’s modules received the upgraded certification from the Japan Electrical and Environment Technology Laboratories (JET) after passing a set of conformity tests. Yingli Green got the specific certification for the first time in August 2011.
Its extension comes at a time when Chinese solar products are subject to import anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties in the US of up to 250% and as the European Union (EU) is soon to impose similar levies of 47.6% on average.
The JET certification programme was launched in June 2012 to coincide with the kick off of Japan's attractive feed-in tariffs (FiTs) for renewable energy. It comes to verify the equipment' reliability and the manufacturers' customer support scheme. A study by IMS Research, released in March, says that Japan is to install over 5 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in 2013 or more than Germany, Italy or the US each.
