Xodus gets job in Aussie green hydrogen project

Global energy consultancy Xodus Group has been picked to carry out the initial phase works related to an over AUD-300-million (USD 218.4m/EUR 184.8m) green hydrogen project in Western Australia.

Perth-based project developer Infinite Blue Energy Pty Ltd has contracted Xodus Group to conduct a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental impact identification (ENVID) as well as to provide ad hoc environmental support, including stakeholder consultation. Xodus will also deliver geographic information system (GIS) support and manage permits and the flora and fauna surveys for the proposed site.

The Arrowsmith hydrogen project will be located in Dongara, about 320 km (198.8 miles) north of Perth and will create Australia's first commercial-scale green hydrogen complex. It will have the capacity to produce 25.8 tonnes of green hydrogen a day, relying on a hydrolysis process powered by solar panels and wind turbines. First hydrogen production from the site is targeted in the last quarter of 2022.

Earlier this year, Infinite Blue secured debt and equity financing for the project from a group of international investors.
