Australian engineering group Worley Ltd (ASX:WOR) has won the job to assist in the development of the concept design for energy company EI-H2’s planned 50-MW electrolysis plant in County Cork, Ireland.
As previously announced, EI-H2 intends to build the EUR-120-million (USD 143m) facility in Aghada, close to the lower Cork harbour. The plant is seen to be completed before the end of 2023, at which time it will be able to produce more than 20 tonnes of green hydrogen per day.
The project will be Ireland’s first green hydrogen production facility and will help meet the targets under the country’s recent Climate Bill, which envisages emissions reductions of 51% by the end of the decade.
