Windel, partner plan another 350-MWp solar-storage project in UK

UK-based Windel Energy and a unit of Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ), through a joint venture, are considering building a 350-MWp-DC solar park with an adjacent energy storage facility in east-central England.

A team led by Windel has started the first phase of a two-stage public consultation process to gather feedback on the proposed Fosse Green Energy project to determine its design, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The first-stage consultations will run until October 20.

The Fosse Green park will be located 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) southwest of Lincoln, in North Kesteven. It is expected to have an export capacity of 240 MWp AC which would be enough to power about 110,000 homes.

The project is being proposed by Fosse Green Energy Limited, a joint venture by Windel Energy and Canadian Solar’s unit Recurrent Energy.

In 2021, Windel and Canadian Solar announced plans to develop the 350-MW Mallard Pass Solar Farm project with storage in England. The application for the project was accepted by the Planning Inspectorate in January.
