Wesii booking for aerial inspections of solar across Europe is open!

May 11 - Wesii, an analytics platform for the renewable energy sector, specializing in photovoltaic aerial thermography and photogrammetry inspections, has taken flight to capture data all over Europe in the coming months. While a majority of the competitors are still using drones, Wesii has jumped ahead of the game using airplanes in order to capture the needed data in a much faster and more efficient way.

The airplane advantage

The types of cameras that can be used when flying airplanes have a much higher radiometric sensitivity that allows them to collect more consistent data as well as fly in conditions that drones are not able to. And the advantages don’t stop there. Planes have also proved to be the greener option when choosing how to gather data at existing or soon-to-be photovoltaic (PV) plants.

When covering more than 10 sites (for photogrammetry or thermography) the emissions of the airplane are less than the footprint a drone used to carry out the same inspections. This calculation includes the emissions generated by pilots who need to travel to and from sites to fly the drones.

Furthermore, the inspections via airplane have come out on top when it comes to the most economical way to collect data, even if one might think the contrary.
