Welspun teams up with GERMI to promote solar power in India

(SeeNews) - Jan 15, 2013 - Indian solar power producer Welspun Energy Ltd said today it had teamed up with the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) to promote the adoption of solar power in India.

The partners will set up a laboratory at GERMI to examine different solar technologies and study their potential application in India.

Under the terms of a memorandum of understanding signed between Welspun and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), which was established by GERMI in 2007, Welspun will offer internship programs to students of PDPU's Solar Program.

Additionally, Welspun has launched a student exchange programme with the Singapore Management University. Under the programme, PDPU students would receive scholarships to study at Singapore's university.

As part of the MoU, Welspun pledged to install a 25-kW rooftop solar system at PDPU.
