Waaree Energies mulls 100-MW solar scheme in central India - report
Oct 15, 2012 - Indian company Waaree Energies Pvt Ltd mulls a 100-MW solar power scheme in Indore, the commercial capital of India’s central state of Madhya Pradesh, The Times of India said Sunday.
The photovoltaic (PV) module maker is planning to pour INR 8 billion (USD 151m/EUR 116m) in the plan.
Vijay Agrawal, secretary of the Association of Industries in Madhya Pradesh, told the daily that up to 40 MW of capacity from Waaree’s project could be selling power at a rate of INR 6 per kWh. This would allow local businesses to cut their electricity costs as they are currently buying power at INR 7/kWh from the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board, Agrawal was quoted as saying.
