December 11 (Renewables Now) - French renewables company Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) has finished building a 5-MW solar power plant in Salon-de-Provence.

The Talagard facility is located on a former communal landfill of 6.5 hectares, less than 50 km from the company’s Aix-en-Provence branch, it said in a statement. It consists of 12,796 photovoltaic (PV) panels and is capable of generating enough power a year to meet the annual consumption of almost 6,500 people.

The solar park has a 20-year contract for difference (CfD) that was awarded to the company in the CRE IV tender held in early 2018.

“This region hosts many Voltalia projects, historically monetized through public tenders, but also more and more through corporate PPAs [Power Purchase Agreements],” stated CEO Sebastien Clerc.
