Weekly renewables M&A round-up (May 23-27)
May 27, 2022 17:26 CESTApril 16 (Renewables Now) - US manufacturer of LED lighting and solar energy products Viper Networks Inc (OTCMKTS: VPER) on Wednesday announced a USD-150-million (EUR 12.5m) joint venture with BIET Technologies Group for the development of renewable energy projects.
The joint venture will deploy renewable energy projects in different markets, including the US, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Malawi. The partners plan to utilise a new hybrid solar photovoltaic and thermal energy (PV-T) collector named after BIET's founder, Abdelhakim Hassabou.
Initially, they intend to develop projects of between 50 MW and 100 MW in capacity. The projects will use the Hassabou collectors as well as technology by Viper and other industry partners from the US, Germany and Europe.
Hassabou's BIET Group already has a presence in Egypt, Qatar, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and Malawi and has launched a number of solar power, waste-to-energy and affordable housing initiatives in Africa.
