March 13 (Renewables Now) - Vikram Solar Pvt Ltd, a major solar module maker in India, said last week it will partner with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in solar and storage technology R&D.

During a visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India, the two parties have entered into a collaboration agreement, under which CEA will share with Vikram know-how and technologies related to solar energy, energy storage, smart grids and thermal efficiency. The Indian company will use such technologies in large volume manufacturing with the ultimate goal of boosting the efficiency of solar photovoltaics (PVs). Vikram will also work on battery solutions.

CEA and Vikram’s collaboration may further extend to areas such as solar mobility, agri-PV, crystallisation and wafering, and mono and bi-facial modules.
