Vestas unveils 70-MW wind turbine order in Uruguay

Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Thursday it has secured a firm and unconditional order to deliver 70 MW of wind turbines for a project in Uruguay.

The order was made by Teyma Uruguay SA, the local unit of Spain’s Abengoa SA (BME:ABG), and calls for Vestas to supply, install and commission 35 units of its V110-2.0 MW machine at the site in the northwestern department of Salto. Deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of next year and will be followed by commissioning in the second quarter of 2016.

The order also includes a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement.

This would be Vestas’ first project with Abengoa, it noted.

Together with the recently-unveiled order for the 50-MW Florida II project, Vestas’ year-to-date announced contracts in Uruguay total 120 MW. The company entered the particular market in 2008 and has since erected more than 300 MW of turbines there.
