May 10 (Renewables Now) - TPI Composites Inc (NASDAQ:TPIC), the US maker of composite wind blades, announced an expanded supply deal with Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) for two more blade production lines at its factory in Matamoros, Mexico.

In a press release on Wednesday, TPI said that the Danish wind turbine manufacturer has exercised an option for the two additional lines for its 4-MW turbine platform as part of an existing multi-year supply contract. Production of blades in TPI’s new facility in Matamoros is expected to be launched in the third quarter.

TPI and Vestas sealed the particular multi-year agreement in April 2017. It calls for TPI to supply blades for Vestas' V136 wind turbine from two manufacturing lines and included an option to add more lines.

In Mexico, TPI is currently making blades in three facilities in Ciudad Juarez.
