Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Sunday it had been chosen to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a 54-MW wind project in El Salvador.
This deal, Vestas’ first in the Latin American country, was signed under with Ventus SA de CV and Tracia Network Corp, both of which are joint ventures (JV) between developers Grupo Luz y Fuerza (GLF) and Grupo Centrans.
In all, Vestas will be responsible for the supply and installation of 15 units of its V136-3.45 MW turbines, customised in 3.6 MW power optimised mode, for the Ventus wind park, the country's first utility-scale wind project. The contract also includes an Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for a period of 20 years.
The Danish company expects to begin deliveries in the second quarter of 2020. Commissioning is slated to take place in the third quarter of the same year.
