May 30, 2014 - Danish company Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it had won a 53-MW wind turbine supply deal for the first ever wind park in the Republic of Guatemala.
Vestas will be shipping 16 of its V112 3.3-MW machines from the fourth quarter of this year. The company has also been engaged to install and commission the turbines for the San Antonio wind project, which is to commence operations in the second quarter of next year. Also, Vestas has secured a 10-year Active Management Output (AOM) 5000 service agreement.
The contracts were awarded by Eolico San Antonio El Sitio SA and Wind Turbine Investments SA Corp, which are owned by Centrans Group and Victoria Corp.
The San Antonio park will be able to produce some 150,000 MWh of electricity per year.
As of end-2013, Vestas has erected 518 MW of wind turbines in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, it noted.
