(SeeNews) – Nov 30, 2011 - Dutch photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturer Solland Solar said yesterday the back-contact modules it developed together with its German partner Schott Solar AG were certified by the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE).
The modules meet PV performance standards IEC- 61215 Ed 2 and IEC 61730.
The back-contact solar modules were manufactured on the basis of the metal wrap through (MWT) technology where the solar modules were connected by a special back-contact foil. The technology enables better power flow since the back sides of the modules are connected and the front sides are left free. The modules have an efficiency of 16.4% and each module can generate at peak conditions up to 260W.
The back-contact solar modules were designed especially for rooftops of private homes.
Now Solland Solar will begin selling the first modules named Solland Sunweb, which were made during the pilot production. Both companies will continue developing the back-contact modules together in order to improve their efficiency.
