US Sopogy, Chinese Yu Hao Long to build 200 MW CSP plant in China
(ADPnews) - Dec 20, 2010 - US solar power equipment firm Sopogy Inc said on Sunday it has agreed to team up with Chinese Yu Hao Long Corp to install a 200 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in China for China National Utility.
Under the signed memorandum of understanding, the partners will combine Yu Hao Long's proprietary Stirling energy generator with Sopogy's MicroCSP technology in the installation of the plant.
The combined system will be demonstrated in Hawaii during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting to be held in Honolulu in November 2011.
Sopogy did not announce other details on the agreement.
The Stirling energy generator utilises ready-made auto components for utility-scale power production.
Sopogy's MicroCSP technology includes parallel rows of parabolic mirror collectors, optics and an integrated tracker to concentrate solar energy on a centrally-located receiver tube, producing heat for the generation of renewable power.
