US Ex-Im backs Brazilian Wind Power Energia's US-made wind blades purchase
Aug 6, 2012 - The Export-Import Bank of the US (Ex-Im Bank) today said it had approved USD 32.1 million (EUR 26.1m) in loan guarantee for Brazil-based Wind Power Energia SA to purchase US-made wind turbine blades.
Ex-Im Bank will guarantee a loan from Bank of America (NYSE:BAC). Wind Power Energia will use the financing to purchase wind blades made in the US state of Arkansas by LM Wind Power Blades Inc, a unit of wind turbine blades maker LM Wind Power.
The move will support some 250 permanent jobs in factories in Arkansas and North Dakota, the Ex-Im Bank said.
Wind Power Energia will use the blades at a 180-MW wind farm in Brazil's state of Bahia and a 211-MW wind farm in the Ceara state.
