US El Paso Electric buys energy form 25 MW of solar projects
Sep 5, 2011 - Texas electric utility El Paso Electric (NYSE:EE), or EPE, last week said it had started receiving the output two solar power plants with combined capacity of 25 MW in the US state of New Mexico under power purchase agreements (PPA).
EPE said the deals were part of its programme to add renewable energy sources to its energy mix.
EPE began receiving energy from the 20 MW Roadrunner Solar Generating Facility in August under a 20-year PPA with NRG Energy (NYSE:NRG). In July, EPE started receiving electricity from the 5 MW Hatch Solar Energy Centre under a 25-year PPA with NextEra Energy Resources, a unit of NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE).
