US DOE closes USD-967m loan guarantee for 290 MW solar project in Arizona
Aug 8, 2011 - The US Department of Energy (DOE) last week said it had finalised USD 967 million (EUR 676.3m) in loan guarantee for the construction of the 290 MW Aqua Caliente solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Arizona.
NRG Solar LLC, a subsidiary of US utility NRG Energy (NYSE:NRG), is the project's owner.
Solar module maker First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) will supply thin-film panels for the project.
Utility Pacific Gas & Electric Co will buy the Aqua Caliente's electricity production.
NRG expects the project to create 400 construction jobs and 10 permanent jobs, the DOE said.
