US Amonix starts building CPV systems factory in Nevada

(ADPnews) - Oct 29, 2010 - US concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) power systems maker Amonix commenced on Thursday the construction of a planned manufacturing plant in the western US state of Nevada.

The facility, located on 214,000 sq ft (19,880 sq m) of land in northern Las Vegas, will have designed annual output capacity of 150 MW, running non-stop. The CPV solar systems it manufactures will be used for installations in Nevada and in the surrounding states.

The factory is expected to open 278 green jobs in the region. According to the Nevada Development Authority, the plant will also yield USD 118 million (EUR 85m) in payroll and USD 12 million in local taxes in the first five years of operation.

Amonix said it has received USD 5.8 million competitive manufacturing tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to set up the plant.

The first line of the first phase of the facility will start operation by the end of the first quarter next year, Amonix said.
