Canadian utility-scale solar developer SkyPower Global on Wednesday confirmed it has won 200 MW of photovoltaic (PV) projects as part of the 2-GW tender in the Indian state of Telangana.
The company was previously awarded 150 MW of solar projects under a separate auction in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It mentioned that the Indian solar industry holds “tremendous growth potential”, especially given the government’s commitment to boost capacity.
Local consultancy Bridge to India unveiled on Monday that SkyPower actually made the lowest bid at INR 5.17 per kWh (USD 0.081/EUR 0.074) as part of the Telangana tender. It did so in Madhya Pradesh as well, bidding INR 5.05 per kWh.
Other participants in the latest auction include SunEdison Inc, ACME Solar and Adani Power.
