August 14 (Renewables Now) - Swiss solar technology company Meyer Burger Technology Ltd (SWX:MBTN) has been informed of a request to call an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting (ESM) by the shareholder group around Sentis Capital PCC.
The shareholder group wants to nominate Mark Kerekes, a co-managing director of Sentis, as candidate for the board of directors of Meyer Burger.
"Subject to formal receipt of the request, Meyer Burger's Board of Directors will review the request and, if appropriate, subsequently convene an extraordinary Shareholders Meeting," the company said.
In July it was announced that the shareholder group controlled 10.425% of the voting rights in Meyer Burger. Sentis alone, a unit of Elbogross SA, which in turn is wholly owned by Russian businessman Petr Kondrashev, has built a stake of 8.219%. In a statement last month, the shareholder group said it would fight to have two genuine shareholder representatives elected to the board of directors -- Kerekes and Anton Karl, also a co-managing director of Sentis.
