October 18 (Renewables Now) - Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) confirmed today that it will be working alongside Biosar Australia to build a 256-MWp/200-MW solar power plant in Victoria for French renewables developer Total Eren.

Canadian Solar said in a statement that in addition to providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in collaboration with Biosar, it will also supply more than 720,000 of the 1500V KuMax modules for the Kiamal project. They will be installed on single-axis solar tracking systems.

The pair will build the particular solar farm in the northwestern part of the state, near Ouyen township. The plant will be hooked to the 220-kV transmission network via a new terminal station and substation built by TransGrid.

Total Eren announced the start of construction on Wednesday. Completion is expected by mid-2019.

The plant already has three power purchase agreements (PPAs) in place for the supply of electricity and green certificates -- one with Mars Australia and two with Flow Power and Alinta Energy.
