Atlas Renewable Energy confirmed on Tuesday that it is acquiring a 378-MW wind project in Brazil from French energy producer Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) for an undisclosed amount.
The deal concerns the 63-turbine Juramento project in the state of Minas Gerais that is expected to produce 1,650 GWh per year once up and running. The scheme has not yet secured a power purchase agreement (PPA).
"This project is currently available for any large energy consumer looking for a PPA to transition from conventional sources of energy to renewable,” said Luis Pita, general manager for Atlas Renewable Energy in Brazil.
The transaction is pending clearance by Brazil's Administrative Council of Economic Defense (CADE), the announcement says.
