Universal Hydrogen to study H2 delivery system for Japanese airlines

Universal Hydrogen Co, developer of a hydrogen logistics network for the aviation industry, will collaborate with three Japanese companies to study and then develop a green hydrogen supply and logistics solution for Japanese airlines.

The collaboration, announced at the California-Japan Climate Summit, is with Sojitz Corp (TYO:2768) and Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc (TYO:8593), which are both investors in Universal Hydrogen, and an undisclosed third company. The partners will explore a modular hydrogen delivery system.

“In order to meet aviation’s ambitious decarbonisation goals, we must collaborate in those markets with the strongest appetite for green aviation solutions; Japan is one of those markets,” said Universal Hydrogen co-founder and chief executive Paul Eremenko.

“By developing a solution that meets near-term decarbonisation goals for regional airlines, we are getting the industry as a whole one step closer towards a significantly more impactful, long-term solution for single aisle and long haul aircraft,” commented Tatsuhiko Niitaka of Sojitz.
