Global independent safety science company UL LLC announced on Tuesday it has taken over renewables consultancy AWS Truepower LLC to beef up its full lifecycle offerings for the wind and solar sectors.
The transaction was completed on Monday. Its value was not disclosed.
Headquartered in Albany, New York, AWS Truepower operates five business units that focus on project advisory, performance engineering, due diligence, information services and grid solutions. To date, the company has worked on the design and assessment of more than 120,000 MW of renewable energy projects, both on land and offshore, in over 80 countries.
"As the market for renewable energy increases and demands a full life cycle service offering for renewable energy projects, the combined portfolios enable us to capture additional business globally," said Jeffrey Smidt, vice president and general manager for UL Energy & Power Technologies.
UL's existing renewables offering is focused on testing, inspection, certification and performance verification of solar, wind, batteries and energy storage systems.
