UK co Hive Energy gets thumbs-up for GBP-11m solar plan - report
Aug 5, 2013 - UK solar developer Hive Energy has secured Colchester Borough Council’s nod for a GBP-11-million (USD 17m/EUR 13m) solar proposal in southeastern England, Insider Media reported today.
The Messing solar power plant, once built, is estimated to produce enough power for 2,800 households. It was greenlighted by the local council on Sunday, according to the report. Insider quoted Julian Pertwee, business development head at Hive Energy, as noting that already two company projects had been approved in Essex.
In mid-June, however, the planning committee of Babergh District Council turned down Hive’s proposal a 10-MW solar park on concerns that it would ruin the landscape and cause the loss of an agricultural spot of land. Hive Energy, which has already modified its proposal, said it would appeal the decision.
