Turkish Uran Holding plans solar projects in Bulgaria, Turkey

Sep 2,6 2012 - Turkish diversified holding group Uran Holding will enter the solar power business with projects in Bulgaria and at home, Turkish daily Vatan reported on Sunday, citing the group's management board member Arcan Uran.

Arcan Uran told the daily that the group, which is active in the construction, torusim and trade sectors, would soon put in operation an EUR-10-million (USD 12.9m) solar power plant in Bulgaria with an expected feed-in tariff (FiT) of USD 0.37 (EUR 0.287) per kWh. Uran Holding has assessed different locations for investments in solar power and has selected Bulgaria as the most appropriate place. The group has received project proposals from Greece but the crisis in the country is making it too risky to invest now.

Uran Holding also intends to install two solar power plants of 2 MW each in southern Turkey's Konya province and plans to boost its installed solar power capacity there to 25 MW, Arcan Uran said. Turkey will give licenses for solar power in 2013. The FiT for solar power in the country is USD 0.13 per kWh.
