Chinese photovoltaic (PV) modules maker Trina Solar Ltd said today it has received a contract for the supply of 20 MW of its newly-launched bifacial PERC modules -- the DUOMAX twin.
The company, which went private last month, said that on April 20 it had completed a 20-MW shipment of its 72-cell modules, with a power output ranging from 340 W to 350 W, to a solar project located in Golmud, Qinghai.
The DUOMAX twin product, introduced last month, combines high efficiency passivated emitter rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline bifacial power technology with dual glass technology. Trina says that power produced from the module’s back side creates up to 25% more energy in a wide variety of environments. It is especially effective for use in sandy areas with high diffuse reflection, as is the case with the above-mentioned project.
“This year is the market rearing stage for DUOMAX twin and this number will continue to rise steadily. We are seeing more orders flowing in across the globe,” said Yin Rongfang, vice president of Trina Solar, head of global sales and marketing.
