Aug 22, 2012 - Chinese photovoltaic (PV) products maker Trina Solar Ltd (NYSE:TSL) said Tuesday it had divided its sales, marketing and project development activities into four regions with regional heads who report directly to chairman and CEO Jifan Gao.
The four regions are the Americas, Europe, China and Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
As part of the restructuring, which was triggered by increased losses and deepening negative margins, Trina Solar appointed Mark Mendenhall as regional president for the Americas. Prior to joining Trina Solar, Mendenhall served as president and general manager for solar power developer SunEdison's North America division.
Qi Lin was named Trina Solar's regional president for China. Before that Lin led Siemens China's renewable energy division for north-east Asia.
Trina Solar also announced the appointment of Jim Wang as vice president of special projects and the departure of chief commercial officer Mark Kingsley.
The management reshuffle was announced as part of the company's second-quarter results report, which was published on Tuesday. In the quarter, the company swung to a net loss of USD 92.1 million (EUR 73.9m) from a USD-11.8-million profit a year earlier.
