May 2 (SeeNews) - Trianel GmbH said on Monday it has commissioned the 10-MW Schipkau solar power facility in the German federal state of Brandenburg.

The particular plant is part of the 22.5 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects for which the company won contracts last year. The rest of the schemes are currently being developed and the firm expects to have them up and running by the end of the year.

Construction work on the Schipkau solar farm commenced in January 2016 and was completed in three months by Bejulo GmbH. The plant, located in Oberspreewald-Lausitz county, consists of 32,160 solar PV modules capable of generating some 10 million kWh of electricity per year.

As previously announced, Trianel plans to grow its renewable energy portfolio to 275 MW by the end of 2018. This would include over 200 MW of wind power capacity, with solar parks accounting for the balance.
