January 13 (Renewables Now) - French multi-energy major TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTE) and its Irish joint venture (JV) partner Amarenco Group have secured close to 58 MW of projects in France’s latest tender for commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop solar systems.

A total of 194 projects proposed by the JV were successful in the 13th round of a national tender programme for photovoltaic (PV) installations on roofs, parking lots and agricultural facilities. The awarded capacity represents 20% of the total allocated capacity, TotalEnergies said on Thursday.

The round 13 call for tenders by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) was completed in December with 820 winning projects. Commercial and industrial projects with capacities of between 100 kW and 8 MW were allowed to bid in two categories.

TotalEnergies and Amarenco noted they have secured more than 700 rooftop solar projects in France, totalling more than 250 MW, in government tenders since 2017.

“By winning this new tender, we are one step closer to our goal of reaching 4 GW of renewable generation capacity in France by 2025,” said Thierry Muller, CEO of TotalEnergies Renewables France.

The French group aims to have 35 GW of gross renewable energy generation and energy storage capacity globally by 2025 and 100 GW by 2023. At end-2021, it owned more than 10 GW.
