September 16 (Renewables Now) - Chinese digital energy technology firm Envision and French energy major Total SA (EPA:FP) have joined hands to offer distributed generation (DG) solar solutions to the industrial and commercial (C&I) sector in China.

Through a 50/50 joint venture, TEESS, the partners will offer distributed solar systems in combination with digital energy solutions based on Envision’s AIoT Operating System EnOS to help Chinese firms reduce both their emissions and energy costs. The JV is promising enhanced safety and reliability of energy utilisation.

TEESS chief executive Alex Sun said that companies from the C&I sector in China are responsible for roughly two-thirds of power demand. The number of such firms looking to source 100% renewable electricity is growing, Sun added.

Envision itself recently set a 100% renewable power target for its operations. Its plan is to use wind turbines and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, in combination with smart energy management, to achieve the goal by 2025.
