Toshiba joins Mitsui Chemicals in 56-MW wind, solar project in Japan
Oct 21, 2011 - Japanese Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) said today it would take part in a consortium led by Mitsui Chemicals (TYO:4183), which will build a 56-MW wind and solar power complex in Japan's Aichi prefecture.
The project call for an investment of some JPY 18 billion (USD 235m/EUR 170m), the company said.
The consortium, which includes seven companies, will conduct a feasibility study in the city of Tahara on the development of a 50-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power facility and a 6-MW wind farm. Toshiba said it would be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction of the solar power plant. Construction of the project is planned to commence in June 2012, while completion is expected in September 2013.
