Tokyo Century Corp (TYO:8439) announced on Friday that, together with Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971), it has completed the construction of a 29.2-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in Tottori prefecture.
The Tottori Yonago Mega Solar Power Plant, as it is named, was developed by the joint venture Kyocera TCL Solar LLC. Consisting of 108,504 Kyocera solar modules, the plant covers 1.2 million sq m of idle land in Yonago city.
The PV facility is expected to generate more than 36 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the demand of around 12,000 average households in Japan. Utility Chugoku Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9504) will be the sole purchaser of the plant's output.
Local TESS Engineering was in charge of the farm's design and construction while Kyocera Solar Corp will be responsabile for the maintenance.
Kyocera TCL Solar has developed 63 solar projects throughout the country, totalling 250 MW, since its incorporation in 2012.
