US residential solar installer Vivint Solar (NYSE:VSLR) said Thursday it is expanding into Florida, bringing the number of states it operates in to 13.
Its offering will be first available in the Tampa Bay area. The company has already hired some 40 employees in Florida and plans to add more jobs as it expands to other areas.
Florida residents will be offered a loan to buy solar systems that will be designed, installed and maintained by Vivint Solar. Because they own the systems, customers can apply for the federal investment tax credit (ITC), the company said.
Vivint Solar now has more than 80,000 customers nationwide, noted interim chief executive David Bywater.
