Sep 11 (Renewables Now) - Israel-based photovoltaic (PV) inverter maker SolarEdge Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SEDG) and LG Electronics USA will launch a joint smart module aimed at the high-end residential and commercial solar rooftop markets in North America, the two said today.

The product, being presented at the 2017 Solar Power International trade show, combines SolarEdge's inverters and optimisers with LG's NeON R modules, which offer efficiency up to 21.1%.

According to Stephen Hahm, vice president and head of LG Electronics USA's energy solutions business, the PV industry is moving fast toward module-level power optimisation to meet the cost, safety and performance requirements of the market.
