Pegasus Solar said Wednesday it has been granted a patent by the US Patent Office for its residential solar panel clamps, which, according to the company, make the mounting process faster and easier.
This is the third US patent for Pegasus, a Richmond, California-based maker of mounting systems for rooftop solar.
The clamps are used with Pegasus' rail-free residential solar mounting systems to secure solar panels to residential rooftops. The company explains its self-aligning clamps are configured to align the clamping faces instantly upon tightening. They also feature a camlock-type action thanks to which installers do not need to reach over solar modules to tighten mid clamps.
