The Brazilian Ministry of Finance denied last week tax exemptions under the Social Integration Programme (PIS) and Social Security Financing (Cofins) for producers of wind turbine blades.
The government's decision was lamented on Thursday by the president of the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (Abeeolica), Elbia Gannoum, at the Brazil Windpower 2015 event.
In January, President Dilma Rousseff signed a law which exempted the sales revenue and the import parts used in wind turbines from the PIS and Cofins taxes. However, the rule does not apply to producers of blades.
Abeeolica's president said, as quoted by Canal Energia, that the Ministry of Finance would not be discussing further the issues related to tax relief at this time.
