Nemoante Ltd and Green Continent Partners, two firms having experience with African renewables, are planning to develop large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects near the Jebba and Kainji dams in Nigeria.
The companies have struck an agreement with Mainstream Energy Solutions of Nigeria, the operator of the two hydropower plants (HPPs), local media reported. Mainstream has access and rights to land close to the dams and the future solar parks there can use the existing substations.
Details on the planned solar capacities have not been disclosed.
Nemoante and Green Continent Partners are involved in other projects in Nigeria, including the 100-MW Middle Band Solar One scheme in Kogi, construction of which is expected to start next year.
