to-the-point: Japan's Renova breaks ground on 81-MW PV plant in Iwate

Japanese photovoltaic (PV) developer Renova Inc announced on Tuesday it has broken ground on a 80.8-MW solar power plant in Iwate prefecture.

The Karumai Eastern Solar, as its is named, is schedule to be complete at the end of November 2019, the company said.

Japanese engineering company JGC Corp (TYO:1963) will be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works. The photovoltaic (PV) plant will cover an area of 300 hectares (741 acres), Renova noted.

With a capacity to produce enough power for about 25,000 homes, the PV plant should commence commercial operation on December 1, 2019.
