to-the-point: Japan's Benex opens 3-MW PV plant in Hokkaido

March 26 (Renewables Now) - Japan Benex Corporation announced today it put into operation a 2.9-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Hokkaido prefecture.

Benex Tomakomai Solar Port, as it is named, is located in a area of idle land in Tomakomai city.

Tomakomai Solar is expected to generate more than 3 million kWh per year, enough to meet the annual demand of 840 local homes.

It is the company's 8th PV facility in Japan and it brings the operational solar capacity of Benex to 11.1 MW. In terms of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, the capacity jumps to 21.1 MW, the company noted.
