to-the-point: Ideol completes installation of Floatgen turbine in French waters

French floating foundations developer Ideol has successfully installed the 2-MW Floatgen floating offshore wind turbine at the SEM-REV test site off the town of Le Croisic in France.

This demonstration project will now go through a series of tests before it is connected to the export cable and the power grid “in the very near future”, Ideol said on its website this week.

The turbine was tugged to its permanent offshore installation site during the night of April 30. Right after the installation there was “an episode of severe weather” at the site, which, according to the company, came to prove the turbine’s excellent seakeeping performance.
