September 13 (Renewables Now) - Helios Energy Co, a recently-formed Thai solar company, has signed a deal with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Innovative Development to build a 40-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the Central Asian nation.

The project will be realised in the economic free zone of the city of Namangan, eastern Uzbekistan. Helios Energy will be responsible for procuring, constructing and overseeing the installation of the plant.

Building works are seen to begin later in 2019, while completion of the project is scheduled for end-2020.

Helios Energy noted that this agreement underlines the government’s commitment to add 4 GW of Solar PV by 2031.
