to-the-point: Hanwha-led group to install 100-MW floating solar park in Korea

State-run Korea Rural Community Corp (KRCC) has picked a group comprised of Hanwha General Chemical Co and Korea Midland Power Co as the preferred bidder for the installation of a 100-MW floating solar park in South Chungcheong province.

The two companies will build the plant on 1.2 sq km (0.46 sq miles) of water in Dangjin, South Chungcheong province, Hanwha Group said on Thursday as quoted by local media. KRCC will be responsible for 20% of the project.

Construction work is expected to begin in 2019, once certain licensing procedures are implemented. Upon completion in 2020, this asset will be the world’s largest floating solar farm.
