to-the-point: Greatcell gets EU grant for Crete perovskite project

Australian firm Greatcell Solar Ltd (ASX:GSL) has received a EUR-500,000 (USD 620,000) Horizon 2020 grant for a perovskite solar project in Crete, Greece involving the use of graphene.

The company’s unit in Rome, Greatcell Solar Italy, secured the funds for the H2020-SGA-FET-GRAPHENE project. As part of it, Greatcell will install a 10-sq-m Perovskite Solar Cell (PSC) array to investigate advanced technology for improved efficiencies, longer life and improved encapsulation of PSC enabled glass substrates and the use of graphene in such solar photovoltaic (PV) applications.

Greatcell pointed out that the project “aligns very closely” with its technology development plan, as part of which it aims to make PV technology that generates power for as low as USD 0.035 per kWh.
