to-the-point: Engineering studies completed for Dubai PSH project

The engineering studies related to Dubai’s 250-MW pumped-storage hydroelectric (PSH) power project in Hatta have been completed, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said Sunday.

The facility is planned to use the existing Hatta Dam and an upper reservoir that will be constructed in the mountain. Roughly a year ago, EDF (EPA:EDF) won a AED-58-million (USD 15.8m/EUR 13.5m) contract to carry out the design, hydro-geological, geological, environmental, geotechnical and deep excavation studies, and to provide other consultancy services.

The National previously reported that DEWA was expected to issue in June a tender for the construction of the energy storage facility, but an official announcement has not been made yet.
