to-the-point: EIB mulls support for renewables fund

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is considering making an equity investment in a fund that targets energy and renewable energy generation projects in Africa, southeast Asia and Latin America.

The so-called Denham International Power Fund aims to invest across five to eight investment platforms, according to information on EIB’s website. The bank did not disclose the sum it considers investing, nor the total amount sought by the fund.

At present, the fund is developing an environmental and social management system (ESMS) that will be integrated into its procedures.

The project is under appraisal by EIB as of today, July 17.
